Scan2SIMS

 Scan2SIMS launched in October 2007, and is available on  both the Sharp and Ricoh platforms.  Integrating seamlessly with SIMS .net, the user can stand at the copier and scan paper documents, attaching them directly to the pupils record.  The selection screen requests that the user logs onto SIMS .net using their SIMS .net user name and password.  They are then able to select the area they wish to scan to:

• Students
• Staff
• Contacts
• Agents
   

For example, the user selects Students from the initial screen, and is then able to select the student required and then either attach the scanned image as a General Document, or attach it to an event previously recorded in SIMS.Net - These events could include an Exclusion, a Medical Event, etc.  Free text can be added to the SIMS .net record at this point, giving additional detail to the scanned document. 

With the price of this solution starting at under £1,000, schools have realised that this is way to cut back on the paper stored in the school enabling the software to pay for itself very quickly, and at a price point that is affordable to all schools.
